Mardaani 2 (2019) Story

Already in the scene, writer-turned-director Gopi Pattern narrates the brutal coolness of a psycho killer on the loose in his film. As the physical enumeration in Rajasthan's education center quota continues to rise, Nadra's young murderer Sunny (Vishal Jethwa) challenges Shivani to stop it if he can.

Rani Mukherjee once again participated in the show with her measured and applied act. She would go to the top of the theaters but got the nuances needed to play a fast-paced cop to tackle hate crime, rape and a violent killer. She acts a good balance between being strong and weak at the same time.

The film's antagonist Vishal Jethwa is a revelation and is confidently against a queen-like powerhouse actor. It sounds innocent, but offers enough cold performance for a new player. He captures the rustic majestic accent, just enough to add even more danger.

The pace of the film is unmatched and adds to the sensation even when we see that Villan is permanently (and quite surprisingly) outsmarting the policemen. The first and second half are equally engaging, with no song that interrupts the action. Thankfully, the background score is also fine.

The film's writing repeatedly promises gender inequality and prejudice. The director gives us a glimpse of Sunny's troubled past, but also gives her character a lot of smarts, some of which seem unrealistic. What also helped to break the fourth wall and talk to the audience. The film tends to stereotype its male characters, in which almost all of them have been shown to be unsympathetic and serious about the plight of women.
